Speed up the transition to zero-emission

Air pollution: a public health priority

More than 100,000 premature deaths occur per year in France* due to pollution from fossil fuel combustion – without counting the impact of fine particles linked to tyre and brake, or the impact on the health of our children – air pollution in urban areas is a major health and environmental issue.

Professional vehicle fleets, such as people and goods transport, represent essential services, but also the main polluters in urban environements. Indeed, most professional vehicle fleets are still made up of thermic vehicles (diesel, gasoline or hybrid), which travel several hundred kilometres a day. ​

There is an urgent need to foster the massive transition of essential fleets to zero-emission vehicles

  • Effective solutions are already available right now : battery and hydrogen electric vehicles.
  • The question is not to know what is the best solution, but what is the best solution for which use and/or in which context (geography, energy infrastructure, etc)?
  • Hype statement : we should not compare solutions, all solutions are necessary and complemantary ; each professional user should be able to choose which one better suit to his uses ; so let’s really speed-up the transition now.

Hydrogen vehicle : an efficient solution for certain usages

Battery electric vehicle (BEV)

  • Respond efficiently to certain professional needs
  • Battery energy efficiency
  • Already industrialized sector (cost, infrastructure)

BUT

  • Problematic charging duration
  • Require oversizing of batteries ans networks, questionable particularly in scaling up (resource impact, etc)

Hydrogen electriv vehicle (FCEV)

  • Suitable for intensive, heavy and random mobility
  • Usual autonomy and recharge (3 to 5 min), not impacting work habits
  • Positive effects of scale, even excluding mobility

BUT

  • Lower overall energy efficiency
  • Need for green hydrogen​

After 2 years of cooperation with Stallentis, Hype has developed in 2023 the 1st zero-emission taxi fleet suitable for Persons with reduced mobility (PRM).


These vehicles are 100% “hybrid” electric.


It includes a rechargeable battery with reasonable size and a fuel cell device.
This solution is optimal on functional and energy perspective.​

Hydrogen, a virtuous solution at certain conditions

Hydrogen vehicles must be powered exclusively with “green” hydrogen to be effective in the fight against CO² emissions and global warming – i.e. produced from renewable resources (wind, solar, hydroelectricity, sustainable biomass ), and if applicable nuclear.

Since green hydrogen is not widely available today, and the overall energy efficiency of the hydrogen vehicle is less optimized, hydrogen must be reserved for certain mobility uses, such as taxis, for which the battery electric vehicle is not sufficient.

  • promotes zero-emission, through hydrogen when it’s relevant, in addition with other zero-emission solutions such as battery energy vehicle.​
  • provides only green hydrogen through its station, with its own production units or via pure players of renewable energy.​
  • invests 100% of its capacities and resources to fight against pollution and global warming.​

Together speed up zero-emission mobility

  • There is no sustainable future if we do not aim to stop the use of fossil fuels today wherever it is already possible, and in particular in urban transport.​
  • Since 8 years, Hype has been providing its customers with a zero-emission taxi service and investing 100% of its capacities and resources to immediately combat pollution and global warming.​
  • Hype allows its customers to travel without polluting for the same price and continues to accelerate movement within Parisian taxis, with the same conviction.​​
